From $150 Million Months to 11th Place: Tracking Last War’s 2026 Chart Slide

Last War: Survival used to live near the very top of the mobile grossing charts. Not anymore. The FunFly strategy game finished August 2026 in 11th place.

MobileGamer.biz published the AppMagic estimates on 9 September. They peg Last War's in-app purchase revenue for August at roughly $56.7 million, and the site says the game hasn't had a worse month since February 2024.

How far has it fallen? The same outlet says Last War banked between $130 million and $150 million a month, without a miss, from September 2024 through March of this year.

How the Rise Happened

The game started small. PocketGamer.biz dug into AppMagic data and found that Last War launched worldwide on 2 August 2023 and made only $287,000 in its first month. September doubled that figure. October cleared $1 million for the first time.

Then the rocket lit. Players pushed lifetime spending past $1 billion on 14 September 2024. They added a second billion by 15 February 2025. PocketGamer.biz logged $212 million in gross spending for January 2025 alone, plus a record $11.6 million in a single day on Valentine's Day.

Three countries supplied most of that money. American players covered about a third of the first $2 billion. South Korea and Japan each chipped in roughly 18 percent.

Naavik cited Sensor Tower data that put Last War among the five highest-grossing mobile games of 2024, with more than $1.1 billion for the year. Marketing agency Udonis compiled AppMagic's figures, which strip out platform fees and so run lower than gross numbers. Those show an even bigger 2025 at about $1.65 billion, and a best month of $158 million.

Where the Decline Shows Up

MobileGamer.biz caught the turn in its half-year review. Last War still ranked third among 2026's top-grossing mobile games at that point, with only Honor of Kings and Whiteout Survival ahead. The site warned, though, that revenue had dropped fast since February. June brought in about $71 million. August sank lower.

Why? Nobody has explained it. The outlet offered no cause and asked its own readers for theories. Player numbers point the same way, only less sharply. Udonis' AppMagic data shows monthly active users topping out at 27.7 million in January, then sliding to 16.2 million by May. Monthly downloads tumbled from 11.9 million at their best to around 2 million.

Remember what these estimates can't see. AppMagic measures what publishers receive after the app stores take their 30 percent. It ignores ad income, webshop purchases and money spent on China's third-party Android stores.

Money moves around mobile games in other ways too. Players trade progressed bases with each other, away from official stores and webshops. You mostly spot that trade through the terms people search for, last war developer account among them, and those searches lead to third-party listings that sit outside these revenue estimates and outside the publisher's control.

The Genre Around It

Other 4X games have lost ground too. Whiteout Survival has shrunk five months in a row, from nearly $115 million in March to about $97 million in August. Century Games, which publishes Whiteout, also runs the newer Kingshot, and that game has held just under $80 million for three straight months.

Two of the genre's three biggest earners now sit well below their spring numbers.

Last War keeps a presence on independent marketplaces as well. Buyacc, a third-party marketplace where players buy and sell game accounts, lists it among its supported games together with MLBB and PUBG Mobile.

Still a Large Business

Don't mistake any of this for a small game. Udonis' data shows about $3.5 billion in lifetime revenue after fees and 192.5 million installs as of July. Divide one by the other, and you get roughly $18 per download, a number most strategy games never sniff. Adults between 25 and 44 make up most of the player base, and the United States, South Korea and Japan still spend the most.

FunFly keeps shipping updates too. An August patch added a Crystal Event, and the studio's official channels announced maintenance for another update on 16 September.

Honor of Kings topped the August chart with more than $150 million, and merge game Gossip Harbor grabbed second for the first time. Last War used to belong to that company. Right now it ranks 11th.
