Video games remain one of the most popular forms of digital entertainment, with developers releasing increasingly ambitious titles each year. From long-running franchises to entirely new concepts, the industry continues to evolve alongside advances in technology. Many modern games rely on structured systems that govern difficulty, pacing, and randomness. These systems often use fixed probability models, similar in concept to 49s odds, to ensure consistency and balance without making experiences feel repetitive.
As technology advanced, video games have become more advanced than ever before, offering improved graphics and faster gameplay. The quality of video games continues to improve, making each passing year a hit in the industry, as players look to get their hands on the latest titles with gameplay considered the best there is.
GTA VI
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, with 5 previous titles set in open-world environments. Video games in the GTA franchise are widely regarded as some of the best releases ever, and in 2026, it seems certain that we will see the 6th instalment. Rockstar is the developer behind all GTA titles, a well-respected name in the industry with a range of other popular releases. Despite amassing notable popularity with their other releases, GTA is undoubtedly their most successful series, known for its crime-focused storylines.
In the gameplay of all GTA titles to date, there is a large open-world city that characters can explore. Each character has its own personality, offering distinct gameplay features for all, with unique catchphrases and different NPC interactions. Whilst adventuring in the worlds, players can complete missions and stories, which will reward the characters, often with in-game money.
Throughout all GTA releases, Rockstar has based the gameplay on a real-life location, and we expect the next game in the series to follow suit. The most recent release in the series was GTA V, which was set in Los Angeles and used the name ‘Los Santos’. Basing their releases on real-world locations creates a realistic game environment, with traffic, random events, and police response levels for those committing crimes.
GTA VI is expected to release in November 2026 and is set in Miami. It is expected that we will see some incredibly advanced gameplay features made up with detailed graphics, showcasing the picturesque Miami beaches. With the growth of technology, it is expected that NPCs will feel much more authentic, replicating realistic interactions. GTA VI will have two main protagonist characters, with Lucia and Jason taking main roles, and playing a Bonnie & Clyde type story.
Marvel Wolverine
Marvel is a leading force in the entertainment industry, which has conquered the film sector like no other. After their dominance in film with the likes of Spider-Man and The Avengers, Marvel has dabbled in the gaming industry, initially releasing toy figures and board games. Marvel has also released a range of video games over the years, often basing gameplay around popular characters.
Many Marvel video games released are set in open-world environments, allowing players to become their favourite Marvel superheroes and adopt their characteristics. One of their most popular video game releases to date is Marvel's Spider-Man, released in 2018. Like many of their releases, this title allowed players to explore an open world as Spider-Man, swinging from skyscrapers to complete missions and side quests.
The Marvel Wolverine video game is expected to release in the fall of 2026 and will be based on the fictional character Wolverine. The game is expected to be a PS exclusive; however, as time creeps closer, more platforms may announce their collaboration. The game will focus on elements of Wolverine’s personal journey from the comics, highlighting combat centred on his claws.
Pokemon Pokopia
For anime lovers, Pokémon Pokopia is expected to release early in 2026 and is one of the most talked-about Pokémon spin-offs to date. Pokémon was first released in 1996 for the Game Boy, and it is fair to say the franchise has come a long way since its pioneering release. Since its original release, Nintendo has released films, TV series, video games, and more about the world of Pokémon, making it one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the world.
In many Pokémon video games, it all begins with players selecting a character, which will become their main partner for the game. Players can travel through unique regions, ranging from rural towns to cave-filled mountains and forests. Whilst on your quests, wild Pokémon may be encountered, which can be caught by throwing Poke Balls and battling.
The Pokémon Pokopia video game is expected to release in March 2026, and is changing the game for Pokémon. Unlike standard releases in the series, the Pokopia edition focuses on gathering resources, building structures, and crafting an overall pleasant environment that attracts Pokémon. The title is incredibly interesting in Pokémon's game catalogue, venturing out from the traditional battle-oriented games, into a more relaxing experience.
