This guide will give you the basics of what you need to know before diving into this exciting, post-apocalyptic world. We’ll cover where to buy the game, how to get a PC or console version of the game and everything in between.

A little bit about the Fallout Series

Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games. It was originally created by Interplay Entertainment and later bought by Bethesda Softworks in 2004. The series is known for its mix of 1950s “atomic age” culture and post-apocalyptic fiction.

The Fallout series consists of seven games: Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, the upcoming game Fallout 76 and Wasteland 2.

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is set in Boston, Massachusetts. You can choose to play as a male or female protagonist and you’ll have to rebuild from the ashes of society with your trusty canine friend by your side.

Fallout games are known for their open world environments and the fourth installment doesn’t disappoint. The map that Bethesda created for this game is expansive, but not without its share of problems that we will be covering later on in this article.

That being said, it’s still one of the most ambitious video games ever made and it has an immersive story line with tons of character development possibilities. It also comes outfitted with some pretty impressive graphics- all thanks to Bethesda’s newest Creation Engine!

Fallout 4 Release Date

The release date for Fallout 4 was November 10, 2015, which means you can add the wasteland to your home library come this holiday season! You can get your hands on Fallout 4 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There is also a PC version of the game, which will be needed to upgrade it with mods. We’ll talk more about mods later on.

Fallout 4 ammo farming

In Fallout 4, ammo is a precious resource. Not only do you need it for your weapons, but you also need it for your settlements. Here’s a few tips on how to farm ammo:

  • Use a ballistic weave armor to increase the amount of ammo you can carry
  • Use the VATS system to target enemies’ appendages (heads, arms, legs) to conserve ammo
  • Join a faction (the Brotherhood of Steel or the Railroad) to get access to better weapons that don’t use as much ammo
  • Collect ammo from your dead enemies
  • Use the “Salvage” crafting perk to get more ammo from dismantled weapons

Mods for Fallout 4

Mods are a huge part of the Fallout 4 experience. Bethesda Game Studios has made it very easy for PC players to mod the game and there are already tons of great mods available to download on the internet. A mod is a file that changes something about Fallout 4 (the environment, dialogue, weapons, etc.) and you can get them from websites like Nexusmods

Mods help to improve different aspects of the game and make it even more fun to play! Here are some of our favorite mods:

  • Homemaker: This mod adds more crafting options.
  • Unlimited Settlement Objects: Did your settlement run out of resources? Try this mod to fix that problem!
  • No Weakness on Animals: If you feel bad about killing animals in Fallout 4, give this mod a try. It makes it so all of the animals have an equal chance at attacking you.

Final thoughts on Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is an amazing game and Bethesda has outdone themselves with this installment. The graphics are stunning, the world is vast and the gameplay is addictive. That being said, there are some definite drawbacks. The map is glitchy in certain areas and can be difficult to navigate. The dialogue can also be a bit stiff at times.

Overall, Fallout 4 is an incredible game and we highly recommend it to fans of post-apocalyptic fiction and RPG games.
